Once a reliably Republican stronghold anchored by affluent Houston suburbs, TX-07 has trended toward competitive margins over the past decade as the district's college-educated and diverse population has grown.
Across the recorded series it reached a Democratic high of 31.8 points in 2016. Between 2020 and 2024 the district moved 8.1 points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was 23.4 points.
A population of 767,062, a 28% non-Hispanic-white share, and a median household income of $75,137 describe the district. The district's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Congressional District 6 and Congressional District 33.
