Demographics
Reagan County sits in the Permian Basin, where an economy built almost entirely on oil and ranching has long produced some of the widest Republican presidential margins in the state — 2024's R+69.4 was typical, not exceptional.
Reagan County has leaned Republican in recent presidential elections, reaching a Democratic margin of 100 points in 1912. Between 2020 and 2024 it moved one point toward the Republican candidate — part of the sharpest rightward shift recorded among any group of places in the country.
Its demographics describe the shift: a 38% non-Hispanic-white share, a median household income of $57,813, and a population of 3,232. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Crane County and Andrews County.
