Ohio County, Indiana—not to be confused with the state—is a compact rural enclave along the Ohio River whose roughly 5,600 residents have delivered some of the widest presidential margins in the state, reaching R+55.5 in 2024.
The Democratic margin here peaked at twenty-one points in 1964. Between 2020 and 2024 the county moved five points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was fifty-five points.
A population of 5,999, a 95% non-Hispanic-white share, and a median household income of $70,392 describe the county. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Pendleton County and Carter County.
