Demographics
Henry County's 2024 presidential margin of R+52.5 places it among Kentucky's most lopsided rural counties, reflecting the sharp partisan realignment that has reshaped small agricultural communities across the commonwealth over the past two decades.
The unraveling was not abrupt. The Democratic margin peaked at sixty-one points in 1964 and narrowed across the late twentieth century. The 2000 election carried the county to the Republican party for the first time in many years, by twenty-one points. Between 2020 and 2024 the county moved seven points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was fifty-two points.
The economic context is severe: a median household income of $63,347 — among the lowest at this geographic scale — and a 16% poverty rate. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Trimble County and Owen County.
