Garrett County, tucked into Maryland's westernmost corner and separated from the rest of the state by mountain ridges, has delivered some of the widest Republican presidential margins in the mid-Atlantic, reflecting its rural, resource-economy roots.
The Republican margin here reached fifty-nine points in 2016. Between 2020 and 2024 the county moved two points toward the Democratic candidate; the 2024 margin was fifty-four points.
