Reeves County spans over 2,600 square miles of West Texas desert and holds one of the state's largest private prison complexes, yet its majority-Hispanic population has historically kept presidential margins closer than surrounding counties.
Reeves County has leaned Republican in recent presidential elections, reaching a Democratic margin of eighty-three points in 1936. Between 2020 and 2024 it moved fourteen points toward the Republican candidate — part of the sharpest rightward shift recorded among any group of places in the country.
