Prince William's rapid demographic transformation — driven by a surge in immigrant and college-educated residents along the I-95 corridor — has shifted its presidential margin from single digits to D+18 in roughly two decades.
Prince William County has leaned Democratic in recent presidential elections, reaching a Democratic margin of seventy-three points in 1912. Between 2020 and 2024 it moved nine points toward the Republican candidate — part of the sharpest rightward shift recorded among any group of places in the country.
Its demographics describe the shift: a 43% non-Hispanic-white share, a median household income of $131,402, and a population of 488,880. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Manassas Park city and Henrico County.
