Franklin County's population has nearly doubled since 2000, driven largely by agricultural-sector migration that has made it majority-Hispanic — yet its presidential margins have moved decisively rightward over the past three election cycles.
Franklin County has leaned Republican in recent presidential elections, reaching a Democratic margin of forty-nine points in 1896. Between 2020 and 2024 it moved eight points toward the Republican candidate — part of the sharpest rightward shift recorded among any group of places in the country.
Its demographics describe the shift: a 46% non-Hispanic-white share, a median household income of $86,714, and a population of 98,902. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Adams County and Brazoria County.
