Demographics
Lincoln County sits at the southeastern fringe of Arkansas's Gulf Coastal Plain, with a population under 15,000 that skews heavily rural. Its 2024 presidential margin of R+50 reflects a long-running realignment away from its historically Democratic roots.
The unraveling was not abrupt. The Democratic margin peaked at ninety-three points in 1932 and narrowed across the late twentieth century. The 2008 election carried the county to the Republican party for the first time in many years, by eighteen points. Between 2020 and 2024 the county moved six points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was fifty points.
The economic context is severe: a median household income of $51,778 — among the lowest at this geographic scale — and a 15% poverty rate. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Assumption Parish and Jackson County.
