Demographics
Washington County's population has more than doubled since 2000, driven by retirees and families relocating from California and the Mountain West. That growth has done little to shift its deep-red presidential margins, which have held above R+50 for over a decade.
Once reliably Republican — a margin of seventy-three points in 1984 at its widest — Washington County has trended Democratic. Between 2020 and 2024 the county moved one point toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was fifty-two points.
A median household income of $80,632 — among the higher at this geographic scale — and a population of 196,431 describe the county. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Iron County and Bonneville County.
