Demographics
The Bronx delivers some of the widest presidential margins of any county in the U.S., anchored by a majority-Latino population and dense concentrations of public-housing residents whose turnout patterns shape citywide Democratic primaries as much as general elections.
Bronx County has leaned Democratic in recent presidential elections, reaching a Democratic margin of eighty-three points in 2012. Between 2020 and 2024 it moved twenty-three points toward the Republican candidate — part of the sharpest rightward shift recorded among any group of places in the country.
Its demographics describe the shift: a 13% non-Hispanic-white share, a median household income of $48,676, and a population of 1,404,779. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Kings County and Queens County.
