Trumbull County in northeast Ohio's Mahoning Valley has swung more than 40 points toward Republicans over the past two decades, making it one of the most dramatic realignment stories among Rust Belt counties with a strong union-manufacturing heritage.
The Democratic margin here peaked at thirty-four points in 1964. Between 2020 and 2024 the county moved six points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was seventeen points.
A population of 200,929, a 85% non-Hispanic-white share, and a median household income of $56,435 describe the county. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Des Moines County and Mower County.
