Demographics
Miami-Dade's Cuban-American and broader Latino electorate has shifted sharply rightward over two election cycles, turning a county that delivered double-digit Democratic margins as recently as 2016 into a reliably Republican one by 2024.
Miami-Dade County has leaned Republican in recent presidential elections, reaching a Democratic margin of ninety-six points in 1892. Between 2020 and 2024 it moved nineteen points toward the Republican candidate — part of the sharpest rightward shift recorded among any group of places in the country.
Its demographics describe the shift: a 27% non-Hispanic-white share, a median household income of $71,753, and a population of 2,738,356. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Imperial County and Passaic County.
